Our Story

Jason Devitt and Haoyang Wang founded Compound Eye with a vision of teaching machines to see the same way humans do - using a combination of geometric and semantic cues. Our first product - still confidential - supported 3D situational awareness in an environment where millimeters mattered. Since then, we've talked to hundreds of customers in automotive, construction, mining, agriculture, and defense. The common thread is “we need a solution for sensing and perception that we can deploy on any vehicle platform and that doesn't cost more than the vehicle.” So that's what we built. Today, we are on the road in major US cities and off the road in some of the world's most demanding terrain. Our perception platform can power high-context situational awareness, rich cockpit visualizations, advanced driver assistance systems, and autonomy for vehicles and machines of all kinds.

Values

We succeed because we share certain values. Our values drive how we collaborate with our customers and with one another.

Mutual trust and Mutual respect

Your coworkers are highly skilled and genuinely excited about the problems that they are working on. You can rely on them to make good decisions and to get their jobs done. You can share as much information as possible knowing that you will get good questions and better ideas back. You can read what informed the company’s strategy and contribute to it yourself. Your coworkers want every voice to be heard and know the difference between being direct and being disrespectful.

The Best Idea Wins

A new hire can change the direction of the company with one good insight. But question your assumptions; give and ask for feedback; search for a better idea than yours, outside the company and in, and be surprised when you don’t find one. Share what you learn so that your coworkers are always learning too.

Diversity Matters

Problems are easier to solve and new opportunities appear when you look at the world from a different perspective: a different educational background, lifestyle, life experience, or geographic location. Building a diverse team is not just the right thing to do, it’s a strategic advantage.

You Matter

It will take years to fulfill our mission. You will not survive if you do not pace yourself. Your physical and mental health matter. We have a generous vacation policy and we want you to use it.
